    About Me
    CURRENT MOON
I'm a mother of four with another on the way. My husband and I were raised as pagans and continue to practice our faith with our children. Although we live in Scotland now, we both lived in the US for significant portions of our childhoods and confess that there are some definite Yankee holdovers in our mannerisms and favorites.
Music (in no particular order) Celtic Woman, Celtic Thunder, The High Kings, Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Darren Hayes (and Savage Garden), Westlife, 98 Degrees, Nick Lachey, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Ricky Martin, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, the list goes on
Movies We're Disney and Pixar freaks, and as Darren Hayes has said, "I like everything that Spielburg's done, except AI"; Casino Royale, LOTR trilogy
TV We don't watch much TV these days, but we like Coupling and Robin Hood
Books Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon series, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, The Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony, anything by Orson Scott Card, and I will admit to owning the HP books.
Likes purple, blue, green, Italian food, rain, the HRC
Dislikes orange anywhere but the sky, broccoli, cheese, eggs, dry environments, the Chinese government
Hobbies scrapbooking, crocheting, sewing, cooking/baking, piano, cello, violin, trying to learn harp, writing, reading, the Sims2 is my guilty pleasure once a week
Vices If I get excited, I tend to speak without thinking, and I'm probably too dependent on "Forced Family Fun"
Virtues For as long as I can remember, people have told me that I have a natural talent/empathy with children. Otherwise, I think I possess what most moms do: patience, compassion, and understanding
Heroes My parents, my husband's parents, my friends' parents, pretty much anyone who helped raise me because they've always set a great example. Oh, and Catherine McPhearson

How do you change your status on your profile?

    Whoa! I surprised myself!

    WHOA!

Okay. . . so this has never, ever, EVER happened to me before, but it's kinda cool!

I was doing a moderately difficult Sudoku and ran into a brick wall.  It was a computer version that didn't have the penciling in options that some programs have.  I could have drawn out the grid and done it on paper, but you get extra points if you do it quickly, so I started taking "wild stabs in the dark" and I solved it!  The whole second half of the grid was done by intuition alone -- zero logic.

That was SO cool!  Okay, I'm done, but I had to tell someone cause there's no one here to tell at the moment.

What Kind of Pagan Are You?

What kind of Pagan are you?
    created with QuizFarm.com
    You scored as Ecclectic Pagan

A veritable blend of all the pantheons and perhaps a dash of a few other religions as well, you're the versitile Ecclectic Pagan.  You have no problem wearing an ankh while setting an offering to Herne on your alter just below your image of Hera.  You don't believe in coloring within the lines, and are a bright free-thinker.  While you respect the views of your fellow pagans, as far as you're concerned, religion is the sky, and there's no one about to clip your wings with lines and limitations.

    Paranormal Survey

    Monday, July 14, 2008, 03:25 PM [General]

    Have you ever?.....

seen a ghost?  To define a ghost as the spirit or spiritual imprint of one who is, shall we say, bodily challenged, no.  Dern it.  Visual perception of spirit is still a little tricky for me.  But I'm getting there!  People were interfereing that last time I had a good chance, but I will get another chance someday.

had a ghost talk to you?  I'm not entirely sure.  There's a lot that happened during the first stage of my awakening that I can't clearly remember.

talked to a ghost? Not directly.

heard someone singing but there was no one there? yes, recently actually

called to a dead loved one and had them appear?  maybe.  Again, that first stage of awakening is tricky

felt someone standing behind you?  All the flippin' time.  Okay, maybe not constantly, and I'm not complaining, but it sure is frequent.

felt breath on your neck but no one was there?  No, because the people who think that it would be a wonderfully funny prank to pull, would quickly learn that it isn't.  Besides, that would be sort of like an abuse of power.  As for a ghost type of situation, no.

had an out-of-body experience? YES!  It was so cool!  Only happened completely twice and the second time doesn't really count, but YES!  The sucky part is that my spirit is always trying to drift while I'm driving and well, I'm pretty sure that's illegal, so . . . .

been physically hurt by an entity?  I've been assaulted by someone who was possessed a couple of times and I don't particularly like it.

hung out in a cemetary?  Does a field trip to Arlington count?  I think cemetaries can be beautiful and educational places, but I also respect them, so unless I am there for a good reason, I think 'hanging out' is inappropriate.

danced on a grave?  Again, disrespectful and inappropriate.

put hands on a tombstone to feel its energy?  Why?  It would be more productive to touch something the living person actually touched.  By the time a body gets to a grave, the soul is 19 times out of 20 already gone.  And that's a generous figure.

put a spell on anyone?  um. . . yes. . . but it was a healing spell.  While I have gotten over my fear of ritual, I know that I spells are unnecessary for me and therefore, I avoid using them if I can.

been possessed?  My body was possessed while I was out of it and the residual stuff of that experience is a little wierd.  Still, at least it was a friend and not something evil.  Well, sometimes he's evil-ish.

participated in an exorcism?  No, I leave that to the far more competant.

taken a paranormal survey before this one? no

    Do you believe in?.....

ghosts?  yes and thanks to Ghost Hunters, everyone should.  It's caught on tape for crying out loud!

demons?  yes, rather annoying little beasties I must say.

angels?  yes, but I don't think they look like the things on top of Christmas Trees.  Hence why we have a bow, star, ceramic thing,, on the top of our Yule Trees.

ouija boards?  Depends on whose using them

seances? Depends on whose administering them

    psychics?  Some of them

the devil?  My answer is so complicated that I could write a whole other blog about this topic, but let me generally say that I believe in an Incarnation of Evil type of entity that assumes the responsibility for managing the evil in souls after each lifetime.

fairys?  Sprites, nymphs, etc. . . are VERY real. Personally, there's no better way to spend a Saturday morning than playing hide and seek with the Wood Nymphs.

gargoyles?  Not sure.  Haven't really thought about it before.  *stalks off puprosefully*  Oh wise, all knowing, big brother?  Do you believe in gargoyals?  (I will now take an educated survey of the entire family and come to a conclusion in eight months time.)

    leprechans?  See above

banshees?  Probably.  I'll need to look up a definition, but based on what I already know, I think so.  I certainly wouldn't risk it.

witches? What kind of silly question is that?  Duh.

    vampires? Yes.

    werewolves? Yes

    poltergeists? Yes.

    the bell witch?  No idea

bloody mary? Too many dang mary's to keep them all straight, but I think so.  I'll have to verify with Nick that this refers to what I think it refers to

    candy man?  No idea

superstitions?  Supersitions are real for people who believe in them -- self fulfilling prophesies.  I have a purpose/destiny, but I control how I get there -- mostly.  So I am not going to make everything unnecessarily complicated by getting worked up over superstitions.

    Random:.....

Ever experienced anything strange during an eclipse?  No

How about during a thunderstorm?  I'm a waterbaby.  I am almost perpetually "in the zone" during storms.

Ever had an experience with a ouija board? *laughs*  A real one?  Let's see. . . . I'm not married to the guy I crushed on in sixth grade and I don't have 104 kids so. . . no.  I know others who have, though, and it can be very serious, so I don't recommend using one if you aren't qualified to handle the results.  They are NOT toys.

Is deja vu a regular occurance for you?  No.  Deja vu is a psychological phenomona where the brain is trying organize experiences into categories and finds two situation so similar that it thinks the event is repeating itself.  *calls to Nick*  Was that convincing enough?!

Seriously, deja vu is the result of the Powers calling a "do over".  It isn't usually something to worry about.  If it seems ominous, a prayer to your patron deity for clarity and confidence may help to settle your nerves.

Can you sense others feelings? All most all the time.  Ever since the "event" however, I've been a little unreliable.  Recent evidence suggests I'm getting back up to speed, though.  Personally, I think Kevin's just wierded out that I know how he's feeling so he says he's fine even if he's not.

How about their thoughts?  Less often than feelings and only with a few people

Do you dream things before they happen?  Dream, as in while I'm sleeping?  Not usually.  I'm more the waking vision type.  Again -- while driving.  Not safe.  I need a new foci.

Ever seen anything leaking from your ceiling or walls that couldnt be explained?  No

Is your house haunted? No.  My church when I was little had some friendly spririts I think.  Again, early awakening.  Hard to tell.

Does your town have a place with a scary legend?  Scary?  I don't think so.  Paranormal?  Yes

Have you visited this scary place? All the time -- especially if I need a confidence boost

Is this test freaking you out?  No, but the rash on my wrist from rubbing against the computer desk is kind of bugging me.

A brief note:  This survey is about the paranormal.  We must remember the definition of paranormal and realize that if all these things are normal to us, they are no longer paranormal, but simply another element of the reality we live in.  Personally, I'm going for the biggest reality possible.
